What is the bug?

Sorry this is on German, im not good in Englisch but here the Traslated Version with Google Translate.

After I’ve read all the messages, the number on the app icon remains at the old value. It only changes upon the next push notification, at which point it displays the correct value (e.g., 1). This happens with two different apps (FluffyChat and Element X on iOS). That is why I suspect the server rather than the apps: apparently, no push notification is sent after reading the messages to update the counter.

Steps to reproduce

  1. In der iOS-App anmelden, Push eingeschaltet, App im Hintergrund.
  2. Der Bot schickt 6 Nachrichten an den Raum des Benutzers. Das Symbol zeigt 6.
  3. App und Raum öffnen und alles lesen. In der Raumliste steht kein Zähler mehr.
  4. Das Symbol zeigt weiter 6.
  5. Der Bot schickt eine weitere Nachricht. Jetzt zeigt das Symbol 1.

Englisch:

  1. Log in to the iOS app, enable push notifications, and keep the app running in the background.
  2. The bot sends 6 messages to the user's room. The icon shows a count of 6.
  3. Open the app and the room, and read everything. The counter no longer appears in the room list.
  4. The icon still shows 6.
  5. The bot sends another message. Now the icon shows 1.

Server name and version

Server version 26.9.1 (046074b)

Additional context

I seem to recall 1966 being related to sliding sync, but FluffyChat doesn't use sliding sync to my knowledge 🤔
